Description
The history of the Château de Thil dates back to the 18th century, when on April 13, 1783, Jean François d’Albis de Belbèze, a member of the French Parliament, bought the estate, lands and lordships of Thil and Bretx from Monsieur, the brother of King Louis XVI.
In 1784, the castle began to be built. To do this, Jean François Denis d’Albis had a brick factory built on the road to Caubiac. The brickyard was to provide him with the flat bricks necessary for the construction, but the production proved insufficient;. So a wing and the central body of the second floor has a mixture of bricks and pebbles.
The Count of Albis died in 1804, and it was his son, Jean Joseph, who came back from Spain and gradually bought the surrounding land.
The property and its outbuildings have a surface area of about 1000m², including about 500m² for the castle and its 15 rooms.
Beautiful park of 2 hectares in a commanding position with a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees in good weather.
The current owner has carried out important work, including the slate roof, the interior insulation of the main rooms, the electrical installation, an efficient central heating system, and the renovation of certain rooms. The new owners will have to pursue his work.
