The village of Charroux (350 inhabitants) is home to numerous craftsmen and shops. The village is a must for tourists visiting the Allier.

13km to the south is the town of Gannat, with all local shops and services (supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies, collège and lycée…) 20km to the north is the town of Saint Pourçain, heart of the vineyards of the same name, offering similar amenities.

Vichy, sub-prefecture of the Allier department, is 30km away. Vichy has all the services and shops of a modern, dynamic town. Its tourist appeal makes it a major magnet for visitors (terms, casino, theater, sports centers, mainline SNCF train station, etc.).

The A719 freeway, 11 km away, takes you to Paris in less than 4 hours, Geneva in 3.5 hours, Lyon in 2.5 hours and Clermont-Ferrand in 45 minutes.
